District Effectiveness Report – Science District Effectiveness Report – Mathematics Attendance Zone Revision Update Mark Tarpley, assistant superintendent for finance and operation, reported on the attendance zone revision process that will establish boundaries for the new Cheatham Elementary School and realign middle school boundaries between Ereckson and Curtis Middle Schools. Tarpley outlined the timeline and parameters set by the Board of Trustees. He also summarized comments presented at the two public meetings which were held in October and November. Rationale for the initial proposal was reviewed along with provisions for “grandfathering” students who are currently attending Ereckson Middle School. The Board of Trustees will discuss the proposal in December and is scheduled to make a final decision in January 2010. Board Authorizes Sale of Bonds The Board of Trustees authorized the sale of $25 million in bonds which were approved by voters in November 2008 and May 2009. The bond funds will be used towards the construction of a new multipurpose stadium in Allen which will open in August 2012. Board Approves Schematic Design For Auditorium, Multipurpose Stadium and Band Hall Expansion The Board of Trustees approved the schematic designs for the new multipurpose stadium, auditorium and band hall expansion. The designs were discussed at the September and October regular board meetings. The stadium, which is scheduled to open in August 2012, will seat 18,000. The facility will also house locker rooms and practice areas for the high school wrestling program. Construction is expected to begin in September 2010. The 1,500 seat auditorium will be completed in the fall of 2011 and will be built at the east end of Allen High School. The band hall – fine arts area will be expanded to the east and connected to the new auditorium by a student commons area.
