Kathy Uhrin

1st Grade

I love living in Texas and I only had to cross the Oklahoma border to get here! After graduating from Oklahoma State University, I taught for 3 years in the Bartlesville Independent School District. I have taught first grade and kindergarten for a total of 16 years and am specialized in Early Childhood Education and am ESL Certified. I was selected as Teacher of the Year for Wilson Elementary in 2000 and was a finalist for Bartlesville Teacher of the Year. I owe my success to the wonderful mentor teachers I have had over the years!

I have enjoyed every moment in Texas and feel very blessed to be teaching at Chandler Elementary for my thirteenth year as a teacher for Allen ISD! I had a wonderful experience teaching at Kerr Elementary for six years and felt the same excitement as we opened the Chandler campus in 2006! I am blessed to have four precious children: Jessalyn, Emily, Nathan and Kennedy. Jessalyn is a senior at UT Dallas, Emily is a junior at AHS and Nathan is a freshman. Kennedy Clare will be 4 years old in December and is such a blessing in our lives! She loves her preschool! We live in Allen and love this school district. I look forward to many more years teaching the wonderful students at Chandler!

The first graders this year will be working very hard on their reading and writing skills and will be having a lot of fun learning more about the world around them. It is going to be a wonderful year of growing and learning!
