Welcome to the Norton Elementary Library
Hi! My name is Whitney Benton. This is my second year as Norton Librarian. I have taught many grade levels at Norton, but most recently have been in fifth grade math. I have a passion for watching children learn and grow in many different settings. I received my Bachelors in Education from Texas A&M and Masters Degree in Library Science at University of North Texas . I am thrilled to be here and look forward to helping Norton Knights learn and discover through many different resources. The Library Media Center/Learning Commons at Norton Elementary is a very busy place! The library is a friendly environment with many print and electronic resources. It is a place where students can relax and read a book or conduct research. Thirty multi-media computer work stations equipped with word processing and presentation software allow students to extend their learning through technology.
The library is open to students daily from 8:00-3:00. Students in grades 1-6 may have two books checked out at one time, while our younger students in kindergarten may check out one book at a time. Books are checked out for two weeks; however, students may return books and get new ones the very next day!
We are now kicking off Overdrive here at Norton Elementary! Visit http://allenisd1.lib.overdrive.com. I will also be sending home information in Wednesday folders.
