6th Grade’s Homework and ZAP Policies
Quality Work
sIXth graders should turn in quality work EVERY TIME. Here are some of my expectations for assignments:
· First and last name written on all assignments
· All assignments completed in NEAT handwriting unless otherwise instructed
· ALL homework to be completed in pencil, no gel pens or colored pens on homework assignments
· Must show your strategies on all problems.
Grading Ranges
Grades are based on the following scale:
· A is 90-100
· B is 80-89
· C is 70-79
· F is 69 and below
· No grade below 50 shall be entered on any district report card.
Grading Make-up Work Due to Absence
Make-up work is assigned the same grading guidelines as regular assigned work. There is not a penalty for make-up work that is turned in with in the district timelines – for every school day absent, the student has one school day for completion.
Grading Late Work
Late work is any assignment that is not turned in the date it is due as long as the student is not absent that day. Your fifth graders should finish homework as independently as possible. If homework is not complete on the day it is due, a Missing Homework Slip will be given to your child. The signed slip should accompany the completed late assignment on the next school day.
- Elementary Guidelines – 10 points will be taken off per school day for late work up to five school days.
Grading for Re-doing Work
Our district purpose for students redoing tests, quizzes and assignments is to support student mastery of course objectives. Correcting a test without appropriate interventions or sending tests and quizzes home to be redone is not acceptable.
Students may be given the opportunity to re-do failing work after appropriate interventions have been implemented. If a student is given the opportunity to re-do work, the student can make no more than a 70 on the work.
ZAP Procedures
If a student does not turn in his/her homework on the due date, that student will attend ZAP the following day during recess.
