AUGUST

Welcome back & here they come!

·      Meet the staff ~ Get to know them and let them know what you do and how you can help

·      Fix any schedules with course conflicts

·                              Update the credit monitoring forms / schedules from summer school

·      Check summer school grades for credit and adjust upcoming schedule accordingly

·      Make any schedule request changes per student / parent / admin

·      Compare transcript to current schedule/credit monitoring form & confirm schedule is accurate

SEPTEMBER

Too late to turn back now!

  • Help Melissa in encouraging students (especially Juniors ~ Nat’l Merit) to register for the PSAT.  The exam will be in October but registration is now
  • National Merit Scholarship Apps (should get an email notification)
  • Update graduation plans for new students / from previous year’s seniors
  • Help College and Career with College Night

OCTOBER ~ End of 1st 9-weeks (Oct. 14)

  • Check / update graduation plans in computer
  • Check AP / IB scores for advanced measures
  • Help administer TAKS retest and PSAT test
  • Review “top 20” and support them academically for the year
  • Go into classrooms and talk with students about PSAT / College Recs

NOVEMBER

  • Check 2nd semester schedules for same teacher/class periods & etc.

DECEMBER ~ End of 3rd 9-weeks

  • Check Sr. failures and arrange for recovery in spring
  • Change grade level status if early graduate
  • Schedule changes for Spring
  • Make a plan for registration (early in December)

JANUARY

  • Check Sr. failures and arrange for recovery in spring
  • Send 10th/11th failure letters home; 12th failure letters certified home
  • Registration presentations begin
  • Update credit monitoring forms with 1st semester grades
  • Complete / Turn in Action Plan and Results Report to Lead Counselor

FEBRUARY

  • Registration continues / adjustment to schedules have begun

MARCH ~ End of 3rd 9-weeks (March 9)

  • Meet with any SENIOR student/parent that might be in danger of not graduating!!
  • Send out Senior failure letters (certified) @ end of 4th 9-weeks
  • Registration continues / Clean-up schedules for upcoming year
  • Administer / monitor TAKS test / retest

APRIL

  • Meet with any SENIOR student/parent that might be in danger of not graduating!!
  • Update schedule requests for following year
  • Administer / Monitor TAKS
  • Senior Surveys

MAY

  • Compile a TAKS failure list
  • Continue to update schedule requests for next school year
  • Update grad plans in Skyward
  • Help with summer school registration
  • Attend banquets (Resiliency Dinner/Awards Ceremony)
  • Proctor AP / IB Exams

JUNE ~ End of 4th 9-weeks

  • Update credit monitoring forms with 2nd semester grades
  • Update / Correct student transcripts & turn into Karen Kirby
  • Continue to clean up / adjust schedules for next school year
  • Make a list of students who:
    • need to take / retake TAKS
    • Possible Eagle Academy candidates
    • Possible E2020 Spanish students & give list to Katy Fleener
    • Early Grads

ONGOING DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (not in any particular order):

 

- Conference with Dillard discipline students 2x a 6-weeks

- Attend / Organize SIT meetings

- Conference / counsel with parents / students (individual / group) / teachers

- Check 9-week failures and place students in credit recovery if applicable

- Attend district / campus counselor meetings

- Ensure students are progressing well in classes

i.e. monitor student progress in classes, check failures, and etc.

- Serve on committees (advisory / curriculum)

- Administer CBE’s throughout the year

- Conduct data analysis (student failures)

-Informally talk with House Principals regularly regarding student progress

i.e. attendance, discipline, academics, & any other concerns that arise

-Meet with student failures to develop an academic improvement plan to promote

            future success; evaluate data results every 6-weeks

-Post pertinent information on doors/walls

i.e. test data (PSAT, SAT, ACT, ASVAB), registration dates, meeting dates & etc.

-Collect / Evaluate failure data

-Support College & Career Center

-Work in collaboration with parents / students to establish goals for future success

- Fill out early grad forms & establish plan with student/parent

- Enroll new students / update graduation plans

- Write letters of recommendations / fill out college applications

- Attend conferences / workshops / college updates

- Fill out Eagle Academy / Dillard paperwork for SIT meetings
