Art to Go Volunteers Needed

Our school is participating in the Art to Go program this year.  Art to Go is an art appreciation program sponsored by the Allen Arts Alliance and enhances your child's art education here at Kerr.  Volunteers will go into the same classroom once a month (Oct.-April) for about 45 minutes equipped with a portfolio containing 6-12 high-quality art prints, all relating to a single theme.  The focus of the sessions is to encourage students to talk about what it is they think or feel about the art they see.  Volunteers will be given background information on the artwork, as well as discussion questions and activities to share with the students.  Classroom teachers will remain in the classroom with you.

VOLUNTEERS DO NOT NEED TO BE ART EXPERTS!

Volunteers do not need to be stay at home parents or even have a child at the school.  Art to Go does not require a big time commitment!  If you can give up about an hour during the day for the presentations plus around an hour at home prep time once a month, you are a perfect volunteer.   Volunteers will attend a training session and do a practice presentation.  Volunteers do not have to think up activities or come up with the artwork.  It's all spelled out for you!  All you need to bring is enthusiasm and a desire to work with our children.  This program was extremely popular with students and teachers last year.  We cannot make it happen without enough volunteers.

THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO BE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN YOUR CHILD'S CLASSROOM!!!!!

If you would like to get involved please contact your child's teacher or Kerri Rubens at dgkerri@gmail.com ~ Kerr Art to Go Coordinator
