Frances Norton 1906 - 2002
Frances Norton Elementary was established in 1997 to accommodate the rapid development and growth of Allen, Texas. The school was named after Francis Elizabeth Norton, a former school teacher, who was born in Renner (Dallas), Texas, March 17, 1906. She began teaching for Allen ISD in 1939 at the school on Belmont Street. She taught first, second and third grades for the next 33 years, retiring in 1972. She was an Allen resident for 54 years, and her house was situated where the Allen Parks and Recreation Department is now located.
Miss Norton possessed a unique love of teaching and dedicated herself to it. Her philosophy of laying the ground work for a solid education in the early grades continues to be exemplified even today at Norton Elementary School.
