Youth Protection

The Youth Protection Committee coordinates Red Ribbon Week for the participation of Norton students. Red Ribbon week is scheduled for October 24-28, 2011 and has daily activities to support the campaign of "It's Up To Me To Be Drug Free".
 
The daily themes for Red Ribbon Week are as follows:
 

Monday                      "Shade Out Drugs!" - Wear Your Sunglasses.

 

Tuesday                      "Wear Red!" - Wear as much red as possible!

 

Wednesday                 "Drugs Don't Make Cents" -  Bring your change to donate to ACO!

 

Thursday                    "Turn Your Back On Drugs!" - Wear your shirt backwards.

 

Friday                          "Team Up Against Drugs!" - Wear a favorite team jersey. 

 
BICYCLE SAFETY TIPS 
  • Head injuries are the most serious type of injury and the most common cause of death for bicyclists
  • Studies have proven that bicycle helmets work to reduse head injury
  • Parents should set good example by wearing a helmet, also
  • Teach your child to look left-right-left before entering a roadway or intersection
  • Do not weave in and out of parked cars, be predictable
  • Always be alert and pay attention while riding, watch for traffic and obstacles
  • Ride on the right side of the roadway with traffic - NEVER against traffic
  • Always look behind and to the left before moving to the left
  • Hold onto the handlebars at all times
  • Use hand signals to indicate a turn or stop
  • Walk your bicycle across crosswalks
