It's no Home Depot. It's Recycle Depot where your trash is our treasure! The Green Team has opened Recycle Depot for your use in gathering supplies for projects. Stop by room 112 Tuesdays 8:15-8:40 and Thursdays from 3:00-3:30. Here are a list of supplies that we are currently accepting donations. It says Earth Day!!!! Refill, Reuse, Repeat!!! Did you know that you can refill a water bottle everyday for 10 years and spend the same amount of money as buying ONE plastic bottle of water??? 80% of all water bottles end up in landfills with less than 20% sent to recycling plants. The Norton Green Team would like to encourage you to BRING YOUR OWN BOTTLE!!! Let's save the planet one bottle at a time. Glue Sticks, Glue bottles, Markers can be recycled As the year comes to an end the trash cans are begining to fill up with glue sticks, glue bottles, and worn down markers. But all of those materials can now be recycled. Go in front of the library and put them in the box. Norton Green Team The Norton Green Team will be participating in the National Recycle Bowl from Oct. 17- Nov. 12. Students and teachers at Norton recycled everything that they could to show the state and nation that our school means business when we recycle. The Green Team weighed all recycled materials and reported our results to Keep America Beautiful. During the Recycle Bowl in November 2013, we collected over 2600 pounds of recycling. On Thursday of each week the Fourth Graders who make up the Norton Green Team recycle paper, cardboard, empty plastic water bottles with no lids, and empty aluminum cans. The crew also has a recycling brigade through terracycle.com for recycling juice pouches in the Norton Cafeteria. To date the Crew has recycled over 5000 juice pouches that are made into back packs, pencil bags and more. Watch this video to find out some ideas!!! Reduce at home! Tired of the Junk Mail Use the link below to reduce the junk mail you receive. The average adult receives 50 pieces of junk mail/ week!!!! Our Norton Recycling Club was awarded the district Eagle Service Award in the Spring of 2010. ![]() CASTLE RECYCLING GREEN TEAM!!! Watch our video!!! We recycled our own paper and made bookmark's for the Norton library. We reused juice pouches by making them into cute pocket pouches. We sold these before school during December. We will use these funds to purchase materials to continue our recycling endeavours. ![]() We've been busy collecting compost materials in the Norton Cafeteria. We are going to add this compost to our school garden when it is ready! ![]() ![]() Knights for Nature We have been working to make our school garden beautiful and healthy. We had several students and adults who worked on the garden during spring break and after school. Thank you to Puckett's Nursery and Home Depot for donating lots of beautiful plants!!!!!
