I am a proud native Texan, born in Dallas. I graduated from LeTourneau University. Teaching is my second career. I decided to change careers to teaching because I wanted to be rewarded for my dedication to my work. I am rewarded every day when I am greeted by the smiling faces of my students each morning. I truly love my career! I have an extremely supportive husband of 22 years. Without his support I wouldn’t be able to teach. Todd is a Plano Police Detective and dedicated father to our two children. Josh is a Junior at Texas A&M studying Aerospace Engineering. Kaity is a Freshman at Tarleton State with the goal of becoming a nurse. We have two adorable miniature dachshunds, Snickers and Dewey. Before coming to open the Olson Elementary campus I taught at Green Elementary in Allen for 6 years, 5 years in kindergarten and 1 year in 5th grade. I am so excited to be at Olson, working with an amazing staff in a beautiful building. I love teaching 2nd grade! The students are excited about school, love their teacher and are sponges, absorbing new information all of the time. I believe in creating a learning environment that is safe. Safe physically and mentally – where children are encouraged to ask questions and know that they will not be laughed at by their peers. I want my students to take risks, knowing that they will make mistakes sometimes. I applaud mistakes, as that is a learning opportunity. I believe that school can and should be fun. I have high expectations of my students, and they always seem to reach up and meet or exceed those expectations. I love my job and I love my students! Parents, thank you for sharing your beautiful children with me. |
