Welcome to Third Grade!
Third grade is an exciting year full of many new experiences for your child. It is commonly called “the transition year,” which means children are progressing from being in a primary grade to becoming intermediate students. Class work undergoes many visible changes with its style and length. At this time, students are not so much learning to read as they are reading to learn. Students will learn the importance of working cooperatively, as well as becoming more independent. They will also focus on becoming responsible for their own work and the routines of school.
With a higher level of independence, your child will need support and encouragement from you as well as their teachers to succeed in this transistion. We look forward to forming a partnership with you in order to help your child have a rewarding and successful year.
Please remember, we are dedicated to your child's success. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hestitate to contact your child's teacher.
