Birthday / Memorial Book Program
The Birthday Book Program is promoted by the Vaughan library to honor our students on their birthdays. With a $15 donation to the library, a book is purchased that becomes part of the permanent library collection. A book plate with the child's name and birth date is placed inside. On his/her birthday, the book is delivered along with a 'Birthday Bear' (if requested) who keeps the special birthday child company for the day. Your child is allowed to take the book home that day and keep it for a normal loan period of one week. Please explain to your child that the book is a donation and becomes part of the Vaughan library collection at the end of the loan period. Summer birthdays will be recognized on the 'half-birthday' date.
A book may also be placed in the Vaughan library in memory of a loved one. A $15 donation purchases a book that becomes part of the permanent library collection. A special book plate with the loved one's name is placed inside the book. Your child may be the first to check out this book if you wish.
