In their second season as an 'official' team, the Ford Mustangs proved to be a force of the future in Texas wrestling. Small in numbers, but big in areas like mental and physical toughness, commitment and dedication, the Mustangs were competitive in every tournament bringing home several gold medals each weekend in tournaments across the state. Wrestlers competed in weight classes ranging from 80 pounds to 250 pounds.
Busing to Curtis Middle School each day, the Mustangs still managed to have the best practice attendance of all the Middle School teams. This type of commitment from the wrestlers and support from parents are to be commended.
"I was always very proud to put any Ford wrestler on the mat", stated Coach Dariel Daniel. "They are outstanding athletes, good students, hard workers, and a pleasure to coach. I would like to extend my appreciation to the entire administrative and athletic staffs for outstanding support of the wrestlers in their inaugural season", Daniel concluded.
"Our Middle School wrestlers are the future of Allen Wrestling" according to Allen High's head coach, Jerry Best. "Ford had an outstanding season placing second in the Allen City Duals and third in the State Dual Championships.
Many will now participate in Freestyle / Greco Roman off-season wrestling, attend summer camps, and lift weights to be even tougher next season.
