Welcome to the Lowery Freshman Center. Please contact me with your questions or concerns. My goal is for your student to have a great year of learning! My name is Charley Wildauer, [MS in Secondary Education/Math from Indiana University]. The 2012-2013 school year will be my 39th year in the classroom. I have been blessed over my career to teach mathematics from Grade 5 all the way up through Calculus, including all core math courses in between. I enjoy teaching and tutoring. This will be my sixth year of teaching at the Lowery Freshman Center. Grading: Chapters in Geometry will be taught in various ways. For some lessons, I will send the student to a website or the textbook to take notes. I won't expect mastery of a concept from notes. Then we will do numerous problems in class, either individually, in small groups, or with the whole class. As we do problems of varying difficulty level, the learning and mastery will occur. Quizzes along the way and eventually the test for each chapter will monitor mastery. For other lessons, I will teach the lesson in a direct way with students taking notes. We will still do problems as a way to increase the student's skill level. Again, quizzes and tests will measure mastery. There will be at least three major quizzes and three major tests during each marking period. A vocabulary quiz will be given at the beginning of each chapter, and a student should be ready for such a quiz after taking the previous chapter's test. Mini-class projects will also be assigned throughout the year and each of these will count as a major quiz grade or a half test grade. Grade Percentages: Homework/Homework Ckecks 10% Quizzes 40% Tests 50% Tutoring: I am usually in my classroom by 7:30 A.M. every morning, and I stay until around 4:30 P.M. each afternoon [except Wednesdays]. My tutoring schedule is posted on my website and outside my door. Helpful tutoring website: The key word for this site is "mg7toc"; other key words are available in the text.
