Please remind your children of the Acceptable Use Guidelines that each of you signed at the start of the year. We are experiencing some problems with our District Networking, which is effecting everyone. ANY unauthorized file downloading is prohibited, not to mention use of fellow students' id numbers or passwords. PLEASE STRESS THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS PROBLEM TO YOUR CHILDREN. We want the CMS environment to run as smooth as possible for our students and staff. Thank you.

CHILD SAFETY

TRAVEL TO AND FROM SCHOOL

We encourage parents to discuss safe practices as our students walk to and from school each day. Please help your child find the safest, most visible route to and from school. You should have a system where your child always keeps you informed if they are not walking straight home. They should know safe practices in dealing with strangers and know how to get help if they find themselves needing assistance. Make arrangements for your child to walk to and from school with others and make sure your child knows his/her address and phone number in case they get lost. Teaching your child to use good judgment and common sense will help them have a safe year traveling to school.

FOOD SAFETY

Due to new Texas Department of Agriculture regulations, parents may bring food to school ONLY for their own child. For example,we won't be able to bring pizza or even birthday cake for a group of students. Thanks you for your understanding.

PARENT SURVEYS

TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION SURVEY

Secretary Spellings, U.S. Dept of Education, would like to hear from the public concerning the integration of technology in education.

1. In what ways has technology improved the effectiveness of your classroom, school or district?

2. Based on your role (admin, parent, teacher, student, entrepreneur, business leader), how have you used educational data to make better decisions or be more successful?

3. In what ways can technology help us prepare our children for global competition and reach our goals of eliminating achievement gaps and having all students read and do math on grade level by 2014?

4. What should be the federal government's role in supporting the use of technology in our educational system?

To share your comments and suggestions, please click on the "Add Your Comment" box at http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/os/technology/roundtable.html

or send an e-mail to edtech@ed.gov.
