ANNOUNCEMENTS

PTA MEETING & "OVERCOMING ANXIETY" - TODAY 7PM AT MPR

Do your kids have anxiety of any degree? The program for this meeting is on Overcoming Anxiety by Michelle Neitert of Community Counseling Associates. We will have a short PTA meeting then start the program. Childcare will be available during the program.

Note that the program has changed and we are looking to have a robotics program at the February meeting.

21 DAY CHALLENGE - TIME TO SIGN UP!

It's Kids Teaching Kids 21-Day Challenge Time!!! This year every Allen school is competing against each other! Help Norton win and get on the right track for healthy eating by signing up your kids between January 9th and 22nd at: www.kids-teaching-kids.com. Remember, only a parent email address can be used. A parent must fill out the information, but the responses to the questions should come from the children. The Challenge will officially take place January 23rd through February 12th. Do not forget to complete the survey between February 27th and March 6th in order to get credit for participating!

NORTON ELEMENTARY AND THE ALLEN EAGLE RUN NEEDS YOU!

Make plans for Saturday, February 25th!! We have set our registration goal for Norton, and we need your help to meet it! Sign your family up for the Fun Run/Walk (roughly a mile) or the 5k, and enjoy the party atmosphere with samples and activities outside the Allen High School football stadium afterwards! Or, if you'd prefer, sign up for the Sleep In option: help us meet our goal, and stay in bed that morning (while donating to a great cause)!

Fun stuff: all entries get a light blue event T-shirt this year! If we meet our school goal, the entire school gets to eat lunch on the blacktop, AND those students (and teachers!) that entered get to tape Mrs. DeLeon to the wall with duct tape! Also, the AHS marketing students are selling red or blue fanny packs (think sleek and athletic, not the frumpy ones from 20 years ago!) and garment washed ball caps...add them to your registration and show your Allen pride!

February 3rd: last day for paper registrations (from Wednesday folders)....last day to be guaranteed the size shirt you want...and last day to get $20 registration. Sign up now! Cash, check, credit card accepted. Entry fees are non-refundable, including in the event of inclement weather -- your entry fee will be considered a donation to the Foundation for Allen Schools. Online registration is open at: http://www.alleneaglerun.org/

Yes, it's almost time for the Teacher Box Tops competition! We collect Box Tops per class as usual, but now the winning class gets to reward the teacher! A special treat for the winning teacher: in addition to the bragging rights, they will earn a collection of $5 gift cards from various establishments around town. Have a favorite place you'd like to suggest? We'd be forever grateful if you'd consider contributing the $5 gift card from there...they'd love the personal touch from their very own Norton Knights!
