On Thursday, May 1st, we met our pen-pals at Ford Park. It was fun! We also released Bigfoot and Miley into the creek.
On Friday, we made German spaetzles as part of a measurement lesson. Ask your child if he/she enjoyed them.
Our class raised $90.00 for the Lymphoma Society.
We welcome frog #4, Yao Ming, to the frog habitat. He joined the others on April 16, 2008.
The children had a fun surprise today. Each child was given a dictionary to keep. This was a gift from the Allen Retired Teachers' Group.
We had our last Art-To-Go lesson for this school year today. The focus was on photography. We sure appreciate Mrs. Judith Barnes!
We presented our play to four different classes and everyone enjoyed it! The SQUARE certainly proved that she is a rectangle...despite the confusion among the rectangles.
Do you play "VOCABULARY DIP" at home? It's a great way to learn new words and reinforce vocabulary.
We are currrently reading Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. Ask your child about Fern, Wilbur, and Avery.
March 13th was Open House. Our class had 90% representation.
On April 6th, Chubby Cheese joined the other frogs. He will soon be adopted out. On March 6th, Miley ( sprouted front legs! So, presently Bigfoot has 2 friends.
On February 6th, Taylor brought her grandmother to class. Together, they taught the class sign language. It was really neat to see Taylor and her grandmother interact. The children asked many questions. It was a day to remember!
In Science we are learning about force and motion. We are also learning about simple machines.
Bigfoot changed into a frog on or about Dec. 17th. He is in his new environment and he seems happy. Hopefully a few others will join him soon. His birth weight was 2 grams. We are providing little crickets for his eating pleasure. We designed announcements, although there was no frog shower. In the tadpole aquarium, there are 9 tads swimming around. None have feet currently.
Ask your child about these words: force, otion, work, speed, weight, and gravity
We are continuing work on division this week. It's a great idea to make or purchase flash cards for added reinforcement. The students who practice multiplication and division facts at home have an advantage.
As always, I encourage high-interest reading and selecting books at your child's level. Let me know if I can help in any way.
All scheduled conferences have been completed. If you did not attend your conference, you will need to let me know some choices of times/dates. I can make myself available most days 6:30 - 7:00a.m. I am available on most Mondays after school and on some Fridays. Evenings can be set up, too.
