![]() I believe all students are able to learn. Each student has a unique set of learning abilities that bring diversity and creativity to the classroom. As an educator, I am responsible for reaching each student by enriching my lessons with a variety of resources that appeal to the multiple intelligences. I am committed to my students and their learning. I want each student to be successful to the best of their ability, therefore I create lessons that are age-appropriate, content rich, hands on, and logically sequenced. The teacher is a director of learning who can steer students into discoveries, challenges, and new explorations. I find that good classroom management and teacher preparedness is the key for keeping students on task, focused, and motivated. I believe that connecting classroom concepts to real life applications inspires, motivates and stimulates long-term retention. I believe in making learning fun without compromising the content of a lesson. As a life-long learner, I believe that staying innovative, studying best practices, creating professional goals, and engaging in the reflective process helps me to continuously improve my program and nurture a teachable attitude. I want to better my ability to empower students by pioneering a variety of approaches in the use of technology for instruction. I believe that visual art is a basic communication skill that every student is able to explore. Problem-solving skills, visual literacy, historical insights, and the opportunity for self-expression are a few outcomes of a richly instructed art program. My goal is to infuse my students with as much enthusiasm for the arts as I have gained through my educational and practical experiences. I believe that students should have the opportunity for their accomplishments to be showcased. I am constantly looking for new ways to encourage and applaud my students for their achievements. My experience has shown that students are more motivated towards excellence the more authentic the audience. I believe that creating visual art is a communication of one’s self and is best created in a warm, supportive, and nurturing environment. Since I require my students to take risks, express their feelings, and try new things, I find it best to model a high level of respect for each student, their artwork, and their feelings. I believe the art room is a place to make memories, tell stories, laugh, and celebrate. I strongly believe that the most indelible memories are created while having fun. A piece of artwork is saturated with the associations of the experience of creating the piece. I want those to be as joyous as the piece itself.
