Tidbits from Mrs. Ryan • Thank you all for coming to Open House. We had 90% attendance! • As you know by now, we have received TAKS reading scores and they were sent home last week with your child. • On April 29th, we will take the TAKS Math test. • I have revised and reorganized my after-school tutoring groups and any future Saturday sessions will be announced soon. • Please ask you children if they have essential supplies such as PENCILS, ERASERS, RULERS, and PAPER. Thanks! • We are going to begin a poetry unit. If you visit the Allen Public Library, check out their poetry selection. • We are currently reading Charlotte’s Web. • We are practicing a math play. It is coming along! • In math, we are presently learning to understand fractional parts on a number line. Show your child a ruler or yard stick or meter stick and ask him/her to show you the half-way mark between two whole numbers. • I will be checking Independent Reading Forms on 4-10-08.. • Ask your child for a tadpole/frog update! • Ask your child about the girl in Plano who has learning disabilities and became valedictorian of her class. Ask your child what “effort” means. • Do you ever discuss bullying behavior with your child? Talk to your child about how it feels to be excluded. • Frog Books are due 4-3-08.
