![]() I try to make the clinic an easy place to come to if needed. My goal is to care for the students and assist them with the ability to stay in class as much as possible. I rarely call parents on a child's first clinic visit, but have the students try class again. Frequently, they do not return to the clinic that day. Vision and hearing screening is done throughout the year for new students and all of kindergarten, first, third and fifth grades. Acanthosis Nigricans screening is done at the same time as vision/hearing screening for 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades (please see AN page below). Screenings generally begin in late October. If you have a concern, please call me and I will be glad to screen your child at that time. Fifth grade is screened for scoliosis in May. I teach fifth grade a growth and development program called "Changing Bodies" in the fall. Parents are notified before that is presented. Texas has specific guidelines about dispensing medication and those guidelines are located in the Student Handbook. All medications taken by a student during the school day must have a parental permission form completed. You may print a form from the pages listed below. As a reminder, students need to be home for fevers of 100 or greater. Students should also remain at home for 24 hours after fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. This is to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and to protect your child from getting a secondary infection. If I can assist you in any way, please call me at school (ext. 153) or email me at Cindy_Harvey@Allenisd.org. HAVE A GREAT YEAR AT NORTON! |
