On-Going Projects

Bluebird Box Monitoring -- We are working together with an Eagle Scout project to place bluebird boxes in the Connemara Meadow. Our students and their families will monitor and maintain the bluebird boxes throughout the duration of the project. We are projecting that the boxes will be up in the Meadow by December 2005. They will be ready for nesting and monitoring at the beginning of 2006. Students as Teachers in the Lower Grades -- Students have shown an interest in presenting and conducting lessons for our lower grades. These lessons will be planned and implemented during the school day as labs or classroom lessons. This project will work closely with Erin Harris, Education Specialist with the City of Allen. Aquatic Site Monitoring -- Students have shown an interest in monitoring the progress of the aquatic plants and wildlife in the area. This project will involve experts in the field of aquatic biology and botany. Native Plant Surveying and Monitoring -- Students have shown an interest of surveying the school grounds and the local environment with the neighborhood area. Recycle Materials Presentation -- Students will conduct classroom presentations for all Norton Classrooms to explain the significance of the recycle bins in each classroom. Students will present the proper recycled material for the green classroom bins.
