Welcome to my second grade class. I am so excited to be teaching at Green Elementary this year. I subbed at Green and have always loved the wonderful families here. I have three children and live in Twin Creeks. Homework Inside the homework folder there will be an assignment sheet for the week. The assignment that is given will always be review materials or follow-up activities to assignments in the classroom. Math Our math units this year include number concepts, addition and subtraction, graphing, money, time, geometry, fractions, 2 digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping, measurement, probability, multiplication and division. Writing A specific amount of time will be spent writing. Students will meet with me for a mini-lesson focusing on the skills of writing as well as a whole group writing lesson. I will confer with their students one-on-one about their writing. Special Projects Occasionally second graders will be working on special projects. The guidelines for projects will always be discussed in class. Students are responsible for planning and preparing their projects. The student's effort will be the main factor for determining a grade for the work. Science Our units of study will include an introduction to the Solar System, biology, weather, geology, ecology, scientific procedures and others.
