My name is Gayle Smith. I am the assistant principal at Norton Elementary. What a blessing to be apart of a campus that is so student focused.
Just to tell you a little about myself...I am a wife and mother of 3 children. My husband Don is employed by Jack Henry and Associates, My daughter Brittanie is a senior at Hardin Simmons University (majoring in special education), my son Eric is a freshman at University of Oklahoma, and my baby Channing is a sophomore at Allen High School. We moved to Texas from Missouri a little over 5 years ago.
I graduated from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. Following graduation I taught 7th grade language arts, 3rd grade grade self-contained, I also worked with 1st grade struggling readers, and homebound students during my spare time.
When my family moved to Texas I worked at Bolin Elementary as a 5th grade science and math teacher and I continued my pursuit of my master's degree in School Administration at Dallas Baptist University.
3 years ago I started my first assistant principal position at Fairview Elementary in Sherman. One thing that has remained constant about students no matter where I've been or what I've taught is that they want to be engaged in the learning process, and they want to be successful. If we couple those two things with continued parent and community support there is no limit to what our students can achieve.
