The The Push-Up Program is an innovative, self-paced program that
meets the individual academic and social needs of its participants and provides students a
unique work environment while offering courses and credit recovery using the NovaNET
computer program.
The educational publishing company, Pearson, who makes NovaNET says, "Designed for
grades 6-12, NovaNET is a comprehensive, online courseware system that meets countless
needs. From delivering thousands of hours of research and standards-based, interactive
curriculum, to integrated assessment and student management, NovaNET is an all-inclusive
system that delivers a return on investment quickly."
You can find out more about NoveNET on the Pearson
Website.
The program began during the 2007-2008 school year at Ford with a few students as a
pilot. Those original students are doing so well that plans are in the works to
expand the program. Participants' grades have improved, attendance has improved
drastically, and behavior has changed for the better.
Courses are offered during the summer as well during the high school's summer school
program through NovaNET. Some of these summer classes can even be completed at home.
