Career DayCareer Day is sponsored by the Guidance
Department for the purpose of helping students know the possibilities when they think
about their futures. Representatives from a variety of business and service careers
spoke to groups of students about what their job is like, and what kind of preparation is
necessary. Students spend a morning rotating through hour-long sessions learning
about real life.
The speakers included people who owned their own
businesses, architects and animators, a fireman, police officers, and a veterinarian, just
to name a few. They brought samples of their work and equipment they use every day.
In addition, students accessed a computer program called
"Reality Check". The program asked the students about the lifestyle that
they anticipated and estimated how much income they would need to support it.
