| ALPHA PHONICS Alpha Phonics is a structured system of teaching reading, writing, spelling and oral language expression with emphasis on the alphabet and phonics. This program has been used remedially for training individuals and small groups and as a basic language curriculum in the classroom. In Alpha Phonics students experience learning through three pathways (auditory, visual and kinesthetic) simultaneously, and develop skill in writing and spelling, as well as reading, while they learn phonics. The stronger senses will support and strengthen the weaker ones if all modalities are engaged in each activity simultaneously. Green Elementary is training all kindergarten students in a simplified version of Alpha Phonics. It is a reading readiness program called Classroom Phonics. Students in third through sixth grade who have not yet mastered language learning attend Alpha Phonics classes five days a week. Brain Gym (CMC) The Brain Gym (Content Mastery Center) is an alternative instructional setting that supports the classroom teacher in meeting all needs of a student. Beginning at the functional level of the student, the Brain Gym teacher builds the academic skills and enhances the motivation of the student to meet instructional objectives on grade level.
