History

Becky Lowery joined the Allen High School counseling staff in 1989 and moved with the freshman class to the new Curtis Middle School for the 1995-1996 school year.

Born in Waco, Texas on June 14, 1949, Becky attended Richfield High School in Waco. Upon her graduation from high school in 1967, she earned degrees at the University of Texas in Austin and the University of North Texas. She married Herchel Lowery in 1970 and the couple raised three children; Amy, Brennan, and Kemp. Becky Lowery tragically died in an automobile accident on July 24, 1997.

Becky Lowery's role as counselor, friend and mother touched the lives of hundreds of teenagers. She helped many Allen students navigate through the challenging junior high school years. For that reason, the school that prepares students for high school is appropriately named the Becky Lowery Freshman Center.
