Support Counselors

The Allen ISD Support Counselor's goal is to facilitate success for all students through prevention and intervention strategies. Counseling services for students and their families are provided by Allen ISD Support Counselors: Jennifer Atencio, Rayven Peck, Jennifer Wedge, and Regina Shaw. Mrs. Atencio, Mrs. Peck, Mrs. Wedge, and Ms. Shaw are licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC).

The Support Counselor role is to assist students, parents, and staff by providing the following services:

  • Crisis Counseling

  • Group Counseling

  • Community Referrals

  • Community Forums/Workshops

  • Drug & Alcohol Prevention Education

  • Parent Education

  • Staff Development

  • Pregnant/Parenting Teen Support Services

Confidentiality
The aim of the AISD Support Counselor is to help students connect with services available within the school district and in the community. Confidentiality is essential in providing the individual with an environment in which it is safe to explore feelings and make decisions. Legal and ethical standards of confidentiality require the counseling staff to report appropriately or refer cases of abuse, certain infractions of the Code of Conduct or criminal activity, and students who are a danger to themselves or others. The Support Counselor operates under the Texas Family Code 32.004 which allows him/her to counsel students dealing with these issues listed below without parental consent:

  1. suicide prevention;

  2. chemical addiction or dependency; or

  3. sexual, physical, or emotional abuse
