Program Curriculum
1.
Developmental curriculum addressing three key components of reading
readiness: phonology, sound/symbol identification and oral language.

Manuals, materials and strategies reinforce classroom curriculum
presented in Texas Reading Academy training.

30 minutes of small group instruction during the student’s school
day

Daily sessions presented 4 days each week by paid tutor

Professional training in a developmental, brain-based readiness

Monthly meetings to discuss and evaluate progress
This program is the basis for parent, volunteer and
Texas Reading Initiative tutoring in grades K-1.
Programs for grades 2-6 will be developed during the 2001-2002
