Lowery Freshman Center Class of 2017, Parents and Students: Welcome to the Lowery Freshman Center! It is time for your child to choose his/her classes for high school. All students will receive an Academic Planning Guide from their Middle School Counselors on February 12, 13 or 14th. This book is going to be your resource as you start looking at the courses that are available at the Lowery Freshman Center and how those courses fit into your child’s graduation plan. Please begin having conversations with your child and be ready to help him/her make choices. Please make note of the parent registration meetings that will be held at the Lowery Freshman Center below. All parents should attend ONE meeting to receive additional information on course selections and course information for their child. To ease the pain of large crowds, we have designated nights alphabetically by last name. A-Ge will attend the parent meeting on Tuesday, February 5th. Gf-O will attend the parent meeting on Wednesday, February 6th and P-Z will attend the meeting on Thursday, February 7th. If you are unable to attend the night you were assigned, please feel free to attend another night. During the presentation you will receive invaluable information in the areas of Graduation Requirements, Advanced Academics, the Arts (Visual and Performing), and Athletics. Our goal is to equip you with information you will need as you and your student make course selections for next year. Members of the Lowery Freshman Center Staff will make presentations to the eighth grade students at each middle school about the course selection process and course options. At that time, your child will receive an Academic Planning Guide as well as important information such as a course selection sheet and handouts with valuable information for you to use as a resource as you make decisions concerning course selections. Your child will make course selections on-line at school with the assistance of their middle school counselor. We look forward to meeting your son or daughter and we know that the upcoming school year will be the best year of your student’s academic career. Watch the LFC website for information concerning the Class of 2017 which will include a copy of all presentations, handouts, application and tryout information. Kick start your Eagle Fever! Go Eagles – Class of 2017! Sincerely, Jill Stafford Principal-Lowery Freshman Center
