About Allen ISD

The Allen Independent School District serves the rapidly growing city of Allen, Texas, a suburban community located 23 miles north of Dallas. Student enrollment has more than doubled since 1989, bringing the current number of students to more than 20,800 in grades K-12. Students attend one of 17 elementary schools, three middle schools, one freshman center and one high school.

To help manage student growth, the district opened its 17th elementary school, Lois Lindsey Elementary, in the rapidly growing northwest section of the district in 2013. The district is currently proposing a bond issue in November 2015 that would, if approved by voters, add an 18th elementary school, a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Center and construction of a new Lowery Freshman Center.  More details here.

Allen ISD students excel in educational performance. The district maintains a 98 percent graduation rate and sends more than 80 percent of graduates to post-high school educational opportunities.

Students also excelled in academic and extra-curricular activities during the past school year. Six students were named as National Merit Semi-finalists and two were finalists. The Allen High School Football Team won the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Texas 5A UIL State Championships and the Allen HS Wrestling Team won its sixth state UIL championship in a row in Austin. Seven Allen High Fine Arts Students won All-State recognition, the highest individual honor for student musicians in the state. The AHS Journalism Department had a state champion and the team finished 3rd in the state this year.
