2004-2005 Reflections Program

Students are encouraged to create and submit original works of art in four areas:

v Literature

v Musical Composition

v Photography

v Visual Arts

Vaughan Elementary Reflections deadline:

Thursday, October 28

Students may submit more than one entry in any or all of the four art areas.

We are looking for new pieces of original artwork inspired by the theme.

As with any student activity, parent involvement and support are very important. But parents must remember that student artists need to create their own works. Children must make their own decisions about what to create and what to enter in the Reflections Program. By creating their own compositions, children not only learn about the arts, but more importantly, they learn about themselves.

The goal of the Reflections program is participation, not winning. Although the program follows a constant format, winning is not the emphasis. All children have the ability to create a work of art through the visual arts, photography, literature and music fields. This program allows for them to have a chance to experiment and feel good about their artistic expression.
