How are raises calculated?
The Allen ISD salary schedule consists of four pay
structures: administrative/professional,
paraprofessional, manual trades and technical.
Within each of these pay structures, individual pay
grades are arranged in a job worth hierarchy. Each
pay grade has a minimum, midpoint and maximum rate.
A new employee to the district is initially placed on
the appropriate entry-level salary schedule based on
total years of experience and degree. In all
cases, however, the entry-level salary will fit within
the minimum and maximum levels of the pay grade range.
Subsequent raises are determined based on
a board-approved percent increase to the midpoint of the
salary range. All employees within a given pay
grade receive the same dollar amount per day pay
increase to the midpoint.
Example: AISD hires a bachelor degreed
teacher with 7 years experience. According to the
2004-05 salary schedule, this teacher is hired at a
$210.71 daily rate for 187 days which equals $39,402. The midpoint of this pay grade is currently $260.20. If the board approves a 3% raise for 2005-06, then all
bachelor degreed teachers would receive an additional
$7.80 per day for a total raise of $1,460 per year. All staff on a given pay grade will receive the same
daily rate increase. However, individual
percentage increases will vary due to individual base
salaries. After the Board of Trustees has approved
the 2005-06 salary and benefits schedule, all employees
will receive notice of 05-06 salary.
I would like to become a
volunteer. What do I need to do?
Volunteers may register through the school district's
Volunteer Online Application. Volunteers must
complete a criminal history background check annually.
If you are a new resident to Texas and hold an
out-of-state driver's license, you may be required to
complete an additional form for a background check. If
you do not hold a social security number or a driver's
license, please contact the Human Resources Department
for assistance. The school district pays for the background check
and then provides a list of eligible volunteers to the
school campuses.
What is the process to get an
interview with Allen ISD?
As a vacancy occurs, administrators have the applicant
database available to them to review applicants to
consider for interview. The administrator exercises his
or her discretion in determining which applicants to
contact. We try to interview as many applicants as
possible; however not all applicants are interviewed.
Interviews are centered on vacancies and need.
As an Allen ISD employee, what
normal deductions would come from my paycheck?
As a permanent employee, you could expect 6.4% deduction
for teacher retirement; 1.45% for medicare; 0.65% for TRS
medicare; and federal
income tax per tax chart. These are all mandatory
deductions. If you are eligible for teacher retirement,
we do not take a deduction for social security tax. We

dental, life, 403B, 457, various professional dues, etc.
How often would I be paid?

15th of each month. All manual trade employees are paid
semi-monthly on the 15th and 30th. This would include
custodians, food services, kid's club, electricians,
plumbers, carpenters, etc.
What do I need for a completed

Can I become Texas certified if
I hold a Teacher's certificate from another state, U.S.
or territory?
An applicant who has been issued a standard
certificate or credential from another state, US
territory, or another country, may apply for a Texas
certificate. The credential must be equivalent to a
certificate issued by the State Board for Educator
Certification (SBEC), and must not have been revoked,
suspended, or pending such action. SBEC will evaluate an
expired credential provided it was standard at the time
of issuance. A statement issued by the authorized
licensing agency in another state, US territory or
country specifying eligibility for standard
certification upon completion of certain employment or
examination requirements will have the same standing as
a standard certificate. To receive a packet or
additional information, you may call their toll free
number at 1-888-863-5880. |
