Head Start is a comprehensive child development program serving children 3 and 4 years of age and their families. The overall program goal is to increase the school readiness of young children in low-income families.

Applications for the upcoming school year will be available in April. Applications may be picked up at Rountree Elementary (800 E. Main St.), AISD Central Administration Office (612 E. Bethany Drive) or the Head Start Office in the Dillard Center (606 E. Bethany Rd. Ste. A).

Enrollment:
Child must be 3 or 4 years of age on or before September 1
Family must meet Federal Income Guidelines
Special needs children welcome
Limited English Speaking welcome
MUST live in Allen
Income Verification — 1040 Form, Page 1 & 2 (income tax forms), TANF, SSI or legal documentation (If you cannot provide a 1040 form please contact the Head Start Office.)

Before we can process your application, we will need a copy of the following:
Child’s social security card
Child’s birth certificate
Child’s up-to-date shot record, well exam, dental exam and finger stick (hemoglobin)
Insurance information — Medicaid, private insurance or CHIP
Two proofs of residency — utility bills, voter registration card, rent/mortgage lease, etc. — plus picture ID
