Texas Law requires that all students entering public school with a home language other than English must be assessed to determine proficiency in English. Before a child can enroll in school, a parent/guardian and the child must go to the AISD LEP Enrollment Center. The enrollment center is located at 606 East Bethany Road next to the Dillard Special Achievement Center.

At the center your child will be tested in English and Spanish (if appropriate) to determine language proficiency. In addition, enrollment center staff will gather information regarding your child's educational history so that the most appropriate instructional setting can be determined. Bilingual staff members are also available to assist you in completing the enrollment paperwork.

Once your child has completed language testing, you will return to your home campus to complete the enrollment process.

Enrollment Center hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m-4:30 p.m.

AISD offers the following programs for English Language Learners:

• Bilingual Instructional Program - offered for grades Pre K-6th. Bilingual programs are offered at Rountree Elementary and Boyd Elementary
• English As A Second Language (ESL) - offered for grades Pre K-12. ESL programs are available at all AISD schools.
• Family Literacy

La ley de Texas requiere de que todos los estudiantes matriculados en la escuela pública con un lenguaje en casa otro que inglés, deben ser evaluados para determinar su habilidad en inglés. Antes de que un niño pueda ser matriculado en la escuela, un padre o guardián con el niño, debe ir a “AISD LEP Enrollment Center”. El centro de matrícula está ubicado en 606 East Bethany Road al lado de “Dillard Special Achievement Center”.

En ese centro su hizo será examinado en inglés y español (si es necesario) para determinar la fluidez de lenguaje.  Además, los directivos de este centro, juntarán información referente a la historia de enseñanza de su hijo, de modo de que se determine la enseñanza adecuada. Los miembros de la directiva del programa bilingüe están también disponibles para ayudarlos a completar el papeleo de la matrícula.

Una vez de que su hijo haya completado el examen de lenguaje, Uds. regresarán a la escuela cercana a su casa para completar el proceso de la matrícula.

El horario del centro de matrícula es de lunes a viernes desde las 8:00 a.m-4:30 p.m.

AISD ofrece los siguientes programas para los aprendices del idioma inglés:
