Tim Carroll is a
twenty-seven year veteran of school communications
and has been an active member of the National School
Public Relations Association for an equal number of
years.
He began his PR career
with the Munster, Indiana schools in suburban
Chicago in 1981. He worked with the
Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation near South
Bend, Indiana for 14 years before joining the Allen
Independent School District in suburban Dallas,
Texas.
Carroll served as
president of the Indiana Chapter of NSPRA before
assuming the part-time role as INSPRA's Executive
Director from 1991-1995. He earned NSPRA
accreditation in 1987 and later served on NSPRA's
accreditation committee and panel for five years.
Among the many
"extracurricular" activities that Carroll has been
involved in through the years are: teaching a
graduate level course in school-community relations;
producing a popular music radio show; writing a
weekly newspaper column, serving as PTA president
and managing a PR consulting business.
His professional
involvement with NSPRA includes authoring numerous
technical PR articles, contributing to NSPRA
publications, and serving on national committees.
His programs and publications have earned state and
national awards including an NSPRA Frontrunner Award
in 2000.
He received the
Professional Leadership Award from the Texas School
Public Relations Association in 2005 and has served
as the state APR accreditation chairman for three
years.
Since joining NSPRA in
1981, Carroll has presented at more than 57
conferences and workshops including workshops at 10 NSPRA seminars.
Carroll is a graduate of
the School Public Relations graduate program at
Rowan University (Glassboro State) in New Jersey.
He received undergraduate degrees in journalism,
radio/TV and education from Murray State University
in Kentucky.
