Steve Payne, executive principal of Allen High School,
has been selected the 2008-2009 Texas High School
Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of
Secondary School Principals.

Community Approves Allen ISD Bond Proposal
Allen ISD voters approved the $219 million bond proposal
on November 4th by a 3-1 margin. Election night results
showed that 20,877 (74%) were cast for the proposal and
7,486 votes (26%) were cast against the proposal.

Students
at Green Elementary set a goal to raise $744 --
$1 for each student attending Green -- to donate
to the Red Cross for hurricane relief
assistance. Students met their goal and passed
it by $1. Student Council officers announced the
achievement over the loudspeaker and presented
the money to the Red Cross.

Students Recognized for PSAT Achievement
Eighteen students from Allen High School have been named
Commended Students in the 2009 National Merit
Scholarship Program and three students were selected as
Honorable Mentions in the National Hispanic Recognition
Program.

Student Named National Achievement Semifinalist
Allen High School student Kaston Murrell has been
recognized as a semifinalist in the 2009 National
Achievement Scholarship Program.

11 Allen Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
The students were among approximately 16,000 students
named as semifinalists in the national competition.
These eleven students will now have the opportunity to
compete for one of some 8,200 Merit Scholarship awards,
worth more than $35 million, in the spring.
