Welcome to Mrs. Spriggs' Classroom Website
6th ELA (English/Language Arts)
I am excited about starting my eleventh year at Chandler. I have enjoyed working with children for as long as I can remember. Starting at age 16, I worked summers as a YMCA swim instructor and camp counselor. It was then, that I realized that working with children gave me great joy. I graduated from Sam Houston State University and moved to Dallas where I went on to teach 5th grade in Garland ISD for six years. I stayed home with my children until they were at the age to enter elementary. I am back to what I loved doing, working with children and striving to instill the love of reading in every child. I have been married twenty-four years to my husband, Stephen, and we have two wonderful children. My son is a sophmore at Texas Tech University and my daughter is a junior in high school. When I am not at Chandler, I am watching my daughter play soccer for her high school and for her club team. I also love to dive into a good book. I am hoping my love of reading will inspire all my students to love reading as much as I do.
Preparing for each school year with my own children and for my students I reflect on the previous year in hopes to set attainable goals which will aide in my growth as a person, mother and teacher. I encourage my children and students to do the same. One of my goals for this year is to teach every child the skills needed to be a successful leader in this global society, so he or she can inspire others to work towards their personal goals. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
