Time for School!
School starts at 7:45 a.m. On the first day of school, students may go directly to their new classroom as early as 7:30 a.m. On the second day of school, and every day thereafter, students may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. This is when campus supervision begins. Students arriving between 7:30-7:40 a.m. will go to the following locations:
K, 1st, 2nd, and 6th: Gym
3rd, 4th, and 5th: Cafeteria
Where do I drop off my child in the mornings?
Purple Side Carpool:
Northwest side of the building (Gym side of the building) - Parents must stay in cars and pull up as far as possible. For student safety, students should exit vehicles on the curbside only and walk on the sidewalk to the door. Staff members are available to assist students in exiting vehicles. Students will walk to their morning locations.
Silver Side Carpool:
Southeast side of the building- Parents must stay in cars and pull up as far as possible. For student safety, students should exit vehicles on the curbside only and walk on the sidewalk to the door. A staff member is at the door greeting students. Students walk to their morning locations.
Who do I call when my child is absent?
Please remember to report your student's absence to the school by calling the absence line at 972-236-0600, ext. 3373, as early in the day as possible. When the student returns to school, they need to bring a signed note from a parent/guardian that states the date(s) and reason for the absence. A note regarding an absence needs to be sent to school within three days of the absence. Refer to Section II, pages 20-24, of the AISD Student Handbook.
What time is school dismissed?
We begin the dismissal process inside a few minutes before the closure of the school day. Students begin exiting the building and waiting in their designated locations at 2:50 p.m until the bell at 2:55 p.m. All students will be supervised until they are released to the appropriate person.
Where do I pick-up my child in the afternoons?
*Students who ride a bus or a daycare van will be dismissed directly to the cafeteria.
*Students who attend Kids Club will be dismissed to the cafe.
*Students who are independent walkers will line up in the hallways with their teachers and will be released when the 2:55 p.m. bell rings. Independent walkers are students who walk off campus to go home or meet up with parents off-campus. This also includes students that ride bikes or scooters.
*Concurrently, students who will be picked up on foot by a parent/guardian with a tag and those who are car riders will be waiting inside.
*Students who are picked up in the carpool line will be called and dismissed to their cars. Those who have walked up to pick up with a car tag must wait behind the yellow gates and students will be dismissed a few at a time as a teacher collects the tag and brings the student to the parent/guardian.
*Please review the map that depicts the traffic flow for both arrival and dismissal. Be aware that the city has placed new pavement markings on Walnut Springs Drive to assist with traffic flow and regulate parking near our school.

What if my child rides a Daycare or Allen ISD Bus?
Students will be dismissed to the cafeteria where they will be accounted for by staff members. Students will then sit in designated areas according to their daycare/school bus. Students will be escorted by a staff member to their bus/daycare van when their vehicle arrives. If a parent needs to make a change regarding bus/daycare dismissal, please email the classroom teacher and our bus/daycare team: firstname.lastname@example.org as early in the day as possible (no later than 2 p.m.).
Rainy Day Dismissal
Walkers and bike riders will assume normal routine unless we are notified by the parent. In the event of lightning or severe weather, we will keep students inside. This may delay their arrival time at home.
Carpool/Walk up dismissal remains exactly the same for both Purple- and Silver-side dismissal. Staff members will keep students inside until their car tag is seen and the student is released.
Please discuss Rainy Day plans with your children in advance so that your child knows your general plans for a rainy day. These often sneak upon us and the first few days of Rainy Day dismissal can be quite confusing for everyone if you have not had a conversation about this ahead of time.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
You may eat lunch with your child at school. In an effort to help students get acclimated and learn our school routines, we ask that you wait a week before visiting for lunch. We have designated tables for visitors and parents if you plan on eating with your child. If you visit for lunch, please remember that you will be allowed to eat with your child only at the parent/visitor tables, once you have signed in through our visitor check-in system at the front desk.
We will also have designated days throughout the year when our cafeteria will be closed to visitors. These days will be shared in our PTA Newsletter so that parents know in advance.
How do I pay for my child’s lunch?
Accounts may be opened during “Meet the Teacher” night, before school each morning from 7:30-7:45 a.m. or by registering on www.paypams.com online credit card payments. Please allow 24-48 hours for the online payment to be posted to the student’s account. If at all possible, plate lunches and snacks should be pre-paid. Please see the cafeteria manager for more information.
What if my child forgets his/her lunch?
You may drop your child’s lunch off at school. Please have the lunch labeled with your child’s name and teacher and we will place it on the shelves in the hallway at lunchtime. Your child will be allowed to pick up their lunch on the way into the Cafeteria. We strongly encourage you to send lunch in the mornings as it relieves any anxiety your child(ren) may feel regarding the availability of their lunch.
What if I forgot to tell my child something important?
Classroom instruction is not interrupted during the school day with telephone calls. All messages will be emailed to the homeroom teacher. The end of the day is an extremely busy time of the day in our school office, so please hold calls unless it is urgent. To leave a message for your child prior to the end of the day, such as a change in dismissal, please call by 2:00pm.

How do I register my child for Kid’s Club, which is Allen ISD’s after-school program at Evans?

Notification Process for School Closing and Delays
Allen ISD campuses are occasionally closed due to weather such as snow and ice. Under most circumstances, a decision to close or delay school due to bad weather is made by 6 a.m. If enough information is available, school district officials may make a decision the night before and parents will be notified before 10 p.m.
If school is closed or delayed, the announcement will first be posted on the Allen ISD website, Allen ISD Facebook page, and Twitter account. Cable Channel 98 will be updated with the information and major television and radio stations will be notified. Because of the large number of school districts in the area, television and radio announcements are sometimes delayed 30-45 minutes. Parents will also be notified by automated phone calls through the SchoolMessenger notification system.
Power Outage Notification
If a campus or multiple campuses are experiencing a power/electricity outage at 6 a.m., schools will have a delayed opening of 10 a.m. If the power has not been restored by 9:30 a.m., campuses will remain closed the remainder of the day. In addition to notification of television and radio stations stated above, a phone notification will be sent to affected families and Fast Track emails will be sent to all subscribers.
Every volunteer MUST complete the online Background Check on the Allen ISD website annually. No exceptions will be made. This includes all parents, grandparents, other family members, and friends who volunteer in any capacity (classroom, copying, reading with children, Watch DOGs, field trips, field day, etc).
