  • ECLIPSE INFORMATION FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, AUGUST 21, 2017

    The Eclipse is Coming!

On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse will cross the entire United States for the first time since 1918.  Since North Texas is not located in the "path of totality", we will see a partial eclipse between 11:40 a.m. and 2:40 p.m.  Our campus will take time the first day of school to experience the eclipse by providing a live stream from NASA in all classrooms, the cafeteria, and the gym so every student can experience the eclipse. Students will not go out to recess between 11:30-2:45 for safety. Teachers have received indoor lesson resources to make this event a valuable learning experience.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

  • District Policy Regarding Absence Notes

If your child is absent from school due to illness, family emergency, religious holy day, or documented juvenile court proceeding, the district requires a parent/guardian to provide a hand-written excuse note or doctor’s note providing the reason for the absence within 3 days of your child’s return to school. These notes allow the school to code the absence “excused.” All absences will be coded as “unexcused” until the office receives a note. Excuse notes are very important since 10 or more unexcused absences within a 6 month period are considered a violation of the compulsory attendance law in Texas.
