    Never disrupt learning.

    Interact positively with others.

    Get attention appropriately.

    Hear and follow instructions.

Take responsibility for their own actions and learning.

Strive to make good choices and be the best that they can be.

    NORTON TAKE HOME FOLDER

The Norton Take Home Folder will go home each Friday and contain a yellow conduct log, graded papers, and/or school communication flyers that need to be sent home. Please do the following:

    • initial the conduct log next to the current week

    • remove any graded work

    • complete and return any school communication flyers

    • send the Norton Take Home Folder back on Monday

Please remember that it is your child’s responsibility to check their folder for any forms that must be turned in to the teacher.

    HOMEWORK

Students will be required to read independently a minimum of four nights a week for 20 minutes each night.  Students will be asked to practice math facts and to bring in supplies for science labs. Homework will be written on the student’s agenda that is brought home daily.

    COMMUNICATION

E-mail is the best way to contact your child's teacher. We will respond to emails within 24 hours. If there's an emergency or change in dismissal plans, please call  or email the front office team, as we are unable to check emails during the school day.

ALLEN ISD GRADING POLICY AND PROCEDURES

    LATE ASSIGNMENTS

Ten points will be deducted from the assignment grade each day it is late – up to 3 days. Skyward is where you should check if your child has any missing or late assignments.

    MAKE-UP WORK DUE TO ABSENCES

Students will be given one day for every excused absence to complete missed assignments. Any previously assigned, long-term assignments will still be due on the original due date regardless of any absence, unless arrangements have been made with the teacher.

Ultimately, it is the student’s responsibility to complete late and/or make-up assignments promptly. It is our desire that these procedures will help maintain consistency and encourage student responsibility as the students grow and mature. If there is ever a question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

    OTHER INFORMATION

Students may have spill-proof water bottles with clear, unsweetened, unflavored, and non-carbonated water for use at their desks. Traditional water fountains are no-longer available at Norton, so your child will need to bring a spill-proof bottle to school each day to refill at the water station.
