This is my 26th year teaching at Green and my 24th year teaching AIM.
AIM stands for Activating Inquisitive Minds. AIM is an academic enrichment program specifically tailored for gifted and talented children. Our new curriculum will promote advanced academics in the four core subject areas. This year we will continue to focus on critical thinking skills, problem solving, inductive and deductive reasoning, and logic skills.

Our thinking processes will include critical thinking, creative thinking, inductive/deductive reasoning, social skills, spatial relationships, research, and communication skills.
We will be “Activating Inquisitive Minds” during the  school year by engaging our students with curriculum opportunities designed to maximize their growth and potential for life-long successes as a gifted learner.

The AIM program provides a homogeneous grouping of identified elementary (K-6) gifted and talented students that is designed to maximize their potential through in-depth and complex exploration of interdisciplinary studies that both extend and enrich the regular classroom. AIM is a pull-out program where students are clustered in a classroom with a gifted and talented specialist teacher.
As we embark on our AIM Adventure for the 2021-22 school year I know that you are in for a fabulous year of learning, exploring, creating, and expanding your mind in incredible ways.  Our AIM curriculum is brand new this year and is something that I am super excited about. All 1st-3rd grade students will be diving into the world of ancient Egypt where we will explore a wide variety of topics such as geography, architecture, political structures, culture, contributions to modern society, the mysteries surrounding of the Nile Delta, pyramids, water scarcity, and so much more.  It's fascinating to learn how civilizations thousands of years ago have greatly influenced how we function as a society today.  Our 4th-6th grade students will be on a National Park journey as we experience all of the amazing things that our national parks have to offer.  Every park tells a story both environmentally and historically.  The stories of the parks are unbelievably fascinating.  We will look at the intricate make up of our parks and learn how to proactively appreciate and conserve some of our great American sites.  The year will culminate in a grand finale showcase where students get to participate in creating an interactive tourism festival highlighting the world of our national parks!
Whether you are a returning AIM student or brand new to the program, I know that it is going to be a fabulous year for you!  If you ever have questions or just want to chat about what is going on in class, please feel free to touch base at any time.  I am here for you.  Usually the fastest way to contact me is through email at carrie.sledge@allenisd.org and I promise I'll get back to you as quickly as possible.  Here's to a great year ahead!
