SgtMaj Bruce Cole
Sergeant Major Cole is a Leadership Education instructor at Allen High School's Marine Corps JROTC. He holds a Keystone Fellowship at the National Defense University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
Sergeant Major Cole served as the Senior Enlisted Leader and advisor to the 3rd Marine Division from May 2010 - June 2013. He provided an enlisted perspective on Pacific AOR strategic vision, theater security cooperation, which includes partner nations enlisted leadership development, and the operational readiness of over 7,000 U.S. Marines spread over two continents and throughout the Pacific theater. Sergeant Major Cole shaped awareness and provided guidance on the commander's theater strategic objectives to all 3rd Marine Division senior enlisted leadership and served as senior mentor for the senior enlisted assigned to 3rd Marine Division. As a command representative, he presented an enlisted perspective to partner nations requesting assistance in developing and maintaining a corps of professionally committed technically and tactically competent enlisted leaders.
Sergeant Major Cole joined the Marine Corps during March 1983 in Houston, Texas. He attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, CA, and infantry training at Camp Pendleton, CA, were he received the MOS of 0341 (Mortarman). He later received the additional MOSs of 0321 (Reconnaissance Marine), and 8541 (Marine Scout Sniper).
Sergeant Major Cole has served with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, First Marine Division, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, First Marine Division, 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, I Marine Expeditionary Force, and as the 3rd Marine Division Sergeant Major.
In his non-Fleet Marine Force tours he has served as the senior instructor at the 1st Marine Division Scout Sniper School and was an instructor at the School of Infantry as the primary tactics instructor for 0311 MOS training. Sergeant Major Cole served on Recruiting Duty as both a canvassing recruiter and six-man recruiting station SNCOIC as part of Recruiting Station Oklahoma City, OK, 8th Marine Corps District, and as the Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji Sergeant Major on the Japanese mainland.
Sergeant Major Cole’s MOS awarding military schools include Infantry Training School, Recruiter School, Scout Sniper School, Primary Marksmanship Instructor’s Course, Basic Reconnaissance Course, Marine Combatant Dive School, Basic Airborne School, and Military High Altitude Freefall Parachute School.
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal (with gold star in lieu of second award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two with combat distinguishing devices for valor and three gold stars in lieu of fourth award), Navy Achievement Medal (with gold star in lieu of second award), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
