    Background
WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads of Great Students)
is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering. It began in 1998 in a single school in Springdale, Arkansas and has since grown into a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into our nation’s classrooms and hallways. WATCH D.O.G.S. ® has created millions of “in school” volunteer hours and continues to have a tremendously positive impact on the educational process. Today more than 2,811 schools in 46 states plus DC participate in WATCH D.O.G.S. ®

    Evans Elementary WATCH D.O.G.S.

Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures are invited to volunteer at least one day, all day, at Evans Elementary.  Watch D.O.G.S.  perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrances, assisting with unloading and loading of cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classrooms.

You will be able to eat lunch with your child as well as spend a portion of your day in their classroom helping out and gaining a better understanding of what your child does on a daily basis at school.

Our Watch D.O.G.S. meet a couple of times each school year to discuss the upcoming schedule and review any recent activities.  In addition, the Evans Elementary Watch D.O.G.S. work to support Evans Elementary and the PTA in any way possible.  Some examples of additional support are listed below.

    ·         Support the book fairs through D.O.G.S. with Donuts events

    ·         Assist with setup and cleanup for various events (Corky’s Cookout, Field Day, etc.)
