Kerr Elementary Counseling Program Mission StatementThe mission of Kerr Elementary's Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental program including the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. Educators, parents, and the community work together as a system of support to stress the importance of empowering all Kerr students with the knowledge and skills to realize his or her full potential.
Delivery SystemCounseling services are provided at Kerr in four ways.1. School Guidance Curriculum: classroom instruction, group activities, interdisciplinary curriculum2. Reponsive Services: consultation, individual and small group counseling, crisis counseling/response, referrals, peer facilitation(Individual students and small groups of selected students for a variety of reasons such as behavioral concerns, attendance concerns, academic concerns, family/life changes, friendship issues, anxiety)3. Individual Student Planning: individual or small group appraisal, individual or small group advisement4. System Support: professional development, consultation, collaboraaiton and teaming, program management and operationClassroom Guidance StrandsBased on the Texas Education Agency's model, the Allen I.S.D. has included eight strands for the Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program. These strands are the basis for instruction at every grade level.
