Ms. Nelson

Welcome Blackhawks and families! I teach 4th grade at Boyd Elementary. I love teaching at Boyd and look forward to seeing each student's smiling face every day! I studied elementary education at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX and hold EC-6 and ESL certifications. Prior to teaching 4th grade, I taught 6th grade and K-6 intervention at Boyd, and have also taught 5th grade in my hometown Garland, TX.
My favorite part about teaching is helping students make connections through their learning and watching each student grow and mature throughout the year.
Outside the classroom I enjoy playing softball, shopping, outdoor activities such as bike riding, hiking and camping, reading suspenseful novels and mysteries, playing cards, and cheering for the Texas Rangers.

Degrees and Certifications:

Back in time...

When I was in the 4th grade (pictured) I loved to play softball, played video games and rode bikes with all of my brother's friends on our street. My favorite subject in school was math and I also enjoyed journaling, writing poetry and drawing. A favorite memory was when my after school club won the Stock Market Game competition. My name was in the newspaper, I received a savings $$ bond, and got to eat ice cream sundaes in the teachers lounge!
