Hi My name is Debbie Bellando. Thanks for stopping by my page. Let me tell you a few things about me.
This will be my 21st official year as a public school teacher. I began teaching in 1987 after graduating from Texas Tech University with a BS in Elementary Education. I taught Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade in Richardson Independent School District in Richardson, Texas for 8 years, before having children. I was fortunate enough to get to stay at home and be a stay at home mom for 13 years while my four children were preschoolers. I spent those years very actively involved in the lives of my children as mom, volunteer, room mom, Girl Scout leader, Sunday School Teacher and Art To Go Teacher. I have been blessed with four wonderful children Caleb 25, Sarah Jayne 23, Jake 21 and Laurel 18. My husband and I decided a long time ago that we would do whatever was necessary for me to stay home while our children were little, and I am so thankful for having been able to do that. When my youngest entered Kindergarten in 2007, I went back to substitute teaching and officially came back to teaching in 2008. I taught first grade at Reed Elementary here in Allen in 2008-2009 then moved to Olson for the 2009-2010 school year. It was so exciting opening a new school, but even better to be able to be at a school with my own children as well!
I enjoyed teaching first grade 3 years in Allen, I was thrilled to get to go back to my favorite grade, Kindergarten, in 2011!
In 2017, I took on a new adventure -- 5th grade Science! It was great fun and I learned a lot!
In 2016, after having had numerous college tours with my kids, I decided that it was time for me to go back and get my Masters and pursue a lifelong dream to become a Librarian. I had always had a love for reading and sharing that love with students! In 2018, I was blessed to be hired to the the Librarian at Marion Elementary. It has been such a fun, if not a bit crazy, ( between Renovation my first year and Covid-19 my second year) but this is truely my dream job and one of my favorite places to be! I am looking forward to being a Marion for many years to come serving students and teachers in the beautiful new Marion Library!
After 9 years at Olson Elementary I was so excited to get to move to Marion Elementary! I wa thrilled to begin my life-long dream of being a School Librarian!
In May of 2019 I finally finished my Masters of Scence in Library Information Science at the University of North Texas!
This is going to be a great year of building our Marion Legacy and I am proud to be a Marion Maverick!
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your students' lives and please feel free to contact me any time you need information about our library.
