Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention
    for Students with Dyslexia
The curriculum teaches students with dyslexia specific strategies and techniques to compensate for the difficulties they will encounter.
Take Flight addresses the five components of effective reading instruction:
Phonemic Awareness – teaching the relationships between speech-sound production and spelling-sound patterns

Phonics –  introduction of phoneme-grapheme correspondence rules, time for practice of new skills, single word decoding

Fluency– instruction incorporates guided and timed repeated reading of decodable words, phrases and connected text ---  directed practice in repeated reading of words, phrases and passages in daily home practice to help students read newly encountered text more fluently
Vocabulary– expanded and enriched by developing morphological knowledge, word relationships, figurative language, syntax and semantics using direct instruction and in reading context
Reading Comprehension – comprehension monitoring, question generation, story summarizing and inferencing
