Story Library Schedule and Checking Out Books***See COVID-19 Specific Library Information*** (coming soon)Our Library is open from 8:15 until 2:45 everyday.Whole group, small group, and individual checkout options are available.Mrs. Richardson also visits classrooms to offer support.The Story Library operates on self-check in and check out procedures.Students scan their own library books, as well as check in their own books.This teaches our students responsibility and accountability for their materials.The students really enjoy the independence and self sufficiency.Kindergarten through Second grades will come in whole groups for lessons, read alouds, and to check out books every week.Third through Sixth grades will come every other week for lessons, read alouds, and check out.Kindergarten students check out 1 book per week and leave them in their book boxes in their classrooms.First grade students start checking out 1 book, then 2 books per week.It is teacher's discretion if the student brings his/her books home.Second through Sixth grade students check out up to 3 books at a time.If a student has a need for more books, he/she can talk with Mrs. Richardson.Books are checked out for two weeks. If a student would like to keep his/her books for longer than two weeks, the books can be renewed. Book titles can also be reserved for students, and they can see Mrs. Richardson for help.
Allen ISD Elementary Library Policyfor Overdue and Lost BooksElementary students are NOT fined for late or overdue books.However, students must turn in library books on time, or they can not check out books until all previous books are returned.Students who have lost or damaged books have the options of either paying for books or replacing the book with another copy. PLEASE do not hesitate to talk to Mrs. Richardson about lost items; I will work with you!
