  • W.I.N.G.S. is a program in which 10-12th grade students develop leadership, communication and principle-based decision making skills, and set personal and professional goals.  W.I.N.G.S. will plan and participate in campus-based service projects (Spirit Weeks, Charity Fundraisers, Red Ribbon Week, Be the One, Teacher Appreciation, etc), the Freshman Mentoring Program, welcome  new AHS students, mentor English Language Learners, and various community service projects.  W.I.N.G.S. student-leaders sign contracts to stay drug free, maintain passing grades in all classes, and be a positive role model both in and out of the school environment. Our student-leaders are very involved in the community. First year W.I.N.G.S students are required to have 10 service hours per grading period while second year W.I.N.G.S students are required to have 15 hours per grading period.  Students-leaders will develop a positive self-concept, healthy relationships and learn personal responsibility. They will also develop emotional intelligence and the skills it measures; including self- awareness, self-control, self- motivation and social skills.

The Freshman Mentor Program is a comprehensive transition program that provides each freshman with a support group that consists of AHS Student Mentors and faculty advisors.  Student Mentors are members of the AHS WINGS and PAL programs and are "trusted guides" to freshmen. They provide an ongoing orientation process that enables freshmen to become familiar with policies, procedures, programs, and traditions at Lowery Freshman Center and Allen High School.
